In 2017, the good people of Calderwood and St Leonards re-elected me as their SNP representative to South Lanarkshire Council.
As a local resident, I am very passionate about East Kilbride and ensuring that we have a real say in the way our services are delivered. For the first time in twenty one years, thanks to your trust and support, SNP are in minority administration, working with you to improve our community.
As well as working for the constituents in the area, addressing individual problems and concerns, I have been continually negotiating on your behalf to resolve issues which affect the whole community. I have ensured that the Council will build an additional waiting room for the South Lanarkshire Crematorium. Visiting a crematorium is always a difficult and emotional event without having the added discomfort of standing in the cold and rain.
It has taken one year of negotiating however, I now have a commitment from the Council and Scottish Government to install new traffic light controllers at Calderwood Road / Maxwellton Road and the Calderwood Road / Whirlies junctions, to improve the congestion during peak times. This relatively small stretch of road between these junctions, is adding 20-30 minutes onto commuter’s journeys. These are the issues that your local SNP Councillors are addressing.
This SNP administration has built more houses in first two years than the previous administration built in the last twenty. There is so much more to do and we can achieve this through your valued support.
