Introducing the newly enlarged teams, SNP leader in the House of Commons Angus Robertson MP said that the teams bring together a great range of talents from the record-sized SNP group in the House of Commons.
Angus Robertson MP and his colleagues will coordinate and develop policy priorities for the SNP at Westminster and work closely with colleagues in the Scottish Government, Scottish Parliament, European Parliament and local government.
Following the lead set by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, the Westminster group has a gender balanced team of spokespeople and matches the experience of long serving SNP parliamentarians and newly elected MPs.
Dr Lisa Cameron, MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, has been appointed Spokesperson on Climate Justice in the International Affairs and Europe team headed up by former First Minister, Alex Salmond MP.
While attending Abu Dhabi’s World Future Energy Summit in 2012, as First Minister, Alex Salmond called for climate justice to be central to decisions on energy and development and that those countries least able to cope with extreme weather should not be further disadvantaged in global energy policy. As always, determined to back up his words with action, the following year the Scottish Government doubled its Climate justice Fund from £3 million to £6 million.
